Where to Eat Mother's Day Brunch
If you’re aiming to celebrate—or be celebrated—this May, might we suggest a reservation. After all, some of our favorite digs have already sold out their Mother’s Day tables, and breakfast in bed is only grand in theory. Leave it up to the experts slinging local fare and snag a spot at a Seattle institution.
Cafe Flora
8am–2:30pm | $59, $25 kids
The light, cozy Madison Valley spot upgrades its usual vegetarian weekend brunch to a swanky three-course menu: start with beignets and continue with cardamom rose french toast or the veggie-forward black-eyed pea fritters before capping the meal with a rhubarb choux bun.
Duke's Seafood
10am–2pm | Menu
The purveyors of 100 percent sustainable seafood revive their shellfish-forward brunch menu for the last time this year: the wild prawn and dungeness crab egg benedict won’t be around again until next Easter. Searching for the best views? Book ahead at the West Seattle or South Lake Union locations.
Elliott's Oyster House
11am–4pm | Menu
Oversize windows and patio seating take advantage of the waterfront location; dockside, Mother’s Day diners are treated to menu specials from lobster pot pie to king crab and artichoke quiche. The elegant, grown-up offerings pair with three holiday cocktails to round out a celebratory meal.
Goldfinch Tavern
10am–2:30pm | $135, $65 kids over 5
Brunch is all about the buffet at this waterfront Ethan Stowell restaurant: the app bar holds local favorites like an Ellenos parfait and oyster tower while the dessert buffet’s ode to the PNW comes in the form of a cherry blossom pavlova. In between, entrees range from the decidedly brunch (smoked wild king salmon croque madame) to the almost dinner (roasted beef tenderloin). Plus, calligraphist Raquel Demorest is on call to craft customized gifts.
Piatti
11am–3pm | Menu
University Village Italian joint Piatti spruces their weekend brunch favorites—lemon ricotta pancakes, spicy Sicilian hash and burrata soft scramble—for the holiday. Delicate flowers garnish cocktails, rosé flights flow, and all the mothers celebrated receive a gift bouquet crafted from local blooms.
Rione XIII
10am–2pm, Menu
Chef Seth Alexander adapts Rione XIII’s Italian roots to the occasion: his take on biscuits and gravy features fresh-baked focaccia and tantalizing fennel sausage gravy. The bare-bones menu otherwise focuses on a few brunch favorites, and the Capitol Hill locale is ripe with celebratory post-brunch shows and shopping to continue the festivities.
Westin Bellevue
10am & 12:30pm | $109, $35 kids over 3
Delicate place setting details and pastel florals give this Eastside Mother’s Day brunch the air of a fairy tale. From indulgent Georgia peach mousse cake to eggs benedict three ways—one boasts alderwood smoked salmon lox—the menu captures both the classy and the classic.
